About Us

The Navigators ministry at West Texas A&M University believes Jesus came so that everyone who believes in Him "may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). College students need this abundant life that God offers through Jesus.  We are associated directly with The Navigators international missions organization (click for more info).

The heartbeat of The Navigators is discipleship. Jesus came alongside a few ordinary people at a pivotal point in history and walked with them so that they might know Him, and make Him known. Our goal is to be with college students. We desire to show them Christ's love in a truthful and powerful way, that will change their lives forever.

We relate to college students by among them. We have small group Bible studies, Nav Nights (large group meetings), leadership training, Joshua Team (spring semester), prayer group, spring retreat (Renewal Conference), Mission trips, summer training program (in Branson, Missouri), outreach events (with free food), and general fun activities (sand volleyball, hiking, mountain biking, camping, pool, foosball, etc.)

"We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too."  -- 1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NLT)

We believe that discipleship is friendship with a vision. The Navigators at WTAMU desire to come alongside college students, live life with them and help them know Christ and make Him known.

OUR MISSION- To know Christ and to make Him known, while helping others do the same.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE NAVIGATORS- The Navigators ministry began in 1933, when lumberyard worker Dawson Trotman taught Les Spencer, a sailor, many Christian principles that he found beneficial in his own life, as well as how to pass that training on to others. Today, The Navigators minister to people in over 100 countries, including many college campus ministries around the United States. For more information on The Navigators’ history, click here.

THE COLLEGIATE NAVIGATORS- The Navigators College Ministry is a dynamic place where college students from all walks of life can grow deeper in Christ, study and learn from the Bible, and communicate their faith to others. Through Bible study and personal mentoring and discipleship, we not only help students study and apply God’s Word, but we also build lasting relationships.

The Navigators College Ministry also develops strong community through fun, life-changing events like weekly meetings, conferences, and summer training programs. Through all these we hope to help students become more like Christ and advance His Gospel through the world. We have over 600 staff at different colleges and universities.
